You have to be in the room with this willow to see how it gleams. Sometimes the long burnished stems coil and twist their flattened fasciated stems ribbed and studded at this time of year with tiny silver pussy willows. Left in the filed they will fill out, white, silvered, and tiny green leaves will gradually replace the catkins, growing into the tiny green stems and eventually into the long fingered leave of its names sake.
